Itinerary

Flight to Lisbon Departure flight to Lisbon, the vibrant capital of Portugal known for its rich history, colorful neighborhoods and timeless charm along the Tagus River.

Lisbon Arrival in Lisbon and welcome at the airport before a panoramic city tour of the Portuguese capital, beautifully spread across seven hills overlooking the Tagus River. Discover the historic district of Belém, home to two masterpieces of Manueline architecture: the iconic Belém Tower and the magnificent Jerónimos Monastery, symbols of Portugal’s great Age of Discovery. Transfer and hotel check-in for a two-night stay. As is customary, hotel rooms are generally available from 3:00 p.m.

Lisbon at Leisure Enjoy a free day to explore Lisbon at your own pace. Wander through the city’s most charming and historic neighborhoods including Alfama, Chiado and Bairro Alto. Admire traditional azulejo tiles, stroll along picturesque cobblestone streets, relax in authentic cafés and perhaps enjoy a live Fado performance or visit contemporary art galleries. (B)

Lisbon – Óbidos – Coimbra – Porto Meet your guide and depart for Óbidos, one of Portugal’s most beautiful medieval villages. Walk through its charming flower-filled streets and fortified walls while discovering the town that belonged to Portugal’s queens for centuries. Enjoy a tasting of the famous “Ginjinha,” a traditional sour cherry liqueur. Continue to Coimbra, renowned for its prestigious university and rich cultural heritage. Free time for lunch followed by a guided tour of this historic academic city. Travel onward to Porto where you will board your cruise ship and settle into your cabin. Meet the crew during a welcome cocktail hosted in Groupe Voyages Québec colors. For the occasion, guests are invited to wear orange or blue accessories or clothing, and a special draw will take place during the evening. Porto – Régua Free morning or optional guided tour of Porto including a visit to a traditional ceramic workshop. In the afternoon, begin your cruise through the breathtaking Douro Valley. Lined with vineyards stretching nearly 200 kilometers, the Douro River reveals spectacular scenery shaped by centuries of winemaking traditions. Pass through the impressive Carrapatelo Lock, the highest lock in Europe with a 35-meter elevation change. Arrival in Peso da Régua in the evening. After dinner, enjoy an exclusive Portuguese wine tasting experience hosted by a sommelier, specially organized by Groupe Voyages Québec to showcase the richness and diversity of local wines and terroirs. Régua – Vega de Terrón (Spain) Free morning or optional excursion to Casa de Mateus and the Douro Museum in Peso da Régua. Meanwhile, the ship sails toward Pinhão where you will rejoin the group for lunch. Continue cruising through the heart of the famous Port wine region, where terraced vineyards dramatically cover the hillsides rising high above the river. Pass through the Valeira and Pocinho locks before arriving in Vega de Terrón in the evening. Dinner followed by a lively flamenco evening onboard. (B/L/D)

Vega de Terrón – Senhora da Ribeira Free time or optional excursion to Salamanca, the magnificent UNESCO World Heritage city famous for its golden sandstone architecture and prestigious university. Return to the ship and continue sailing through the stunning Douro Valley landscapes. The terraced vineyards, winding river bends and spectacular scenery create an unforgettable cruising experience. Senhora da Ribeira – Leverinho Morning cruise through the Douro Valley with passage through the Pocinho and Valeira locks. Lunch onboard. In the afternoon, stop at Ferradosa for free time or an optional excursion dedicated to Port wines and the region of Pinhão. Travel along scenic vineyard roads to panoramic viewpoints before enjoying a wine tasting at a traditional quinta estate. Visit the famous Pinhão Railway Station, celebrated for its remarkable azulejo tile murals depicting local traditions and vineyard life. Return to the ship for dinner. Leverinho – Porto Disembark and transfer to downtown Porto. Enjoy free time to further discover the city’s charming streets, historic neighborhoods, riverside cafés and famous wine cellars before checking into your centrally located hotel in the afternoon. (B)

Porto Free day in Porto or join your tour leader to continue exploring Portugal’s second-largest city perched above the Douro River.
