Nice has a light that drew painters for over a century. For three weeks, it becomes your address: the colourful lanes of Old Nice, the Cours Saleya market stalls, pissaladière and pan bagnat, and the Promenade des Anglais along a sea that changes shades of blue all day.
The group stays 20 nights in a central aparthotel, steps from the beaches and the promenade. Having your own kitchen changes everything: shop at the market like a local, cook if you like, go out if you prefer.
The days are free. Your tour escort offers optional excursions to Monaco, Cannes and Menton, as far as Sanremo in Italy, or to the hilltop villages of Èze and Saint-Paul-de-Vence. The inexpensive regional train runs along the whole coast for those who like to explore on their own.
A final night in Marseille, between the Old Port and the calanques, rounds off the stay.
